Another decent season

Written by sprint4live at 13:21 21/3-2013

Slico is very proud to see Sprint4Live ending another season on the first place. It wasn’t a sure lead for the whole season, but the first place is all that counts! Season 23 was also a season of renewing. With Anquetil, Echlin, Cherkasov and Savthong we bought four young riders to train, of which Savthong already maxed on a nice average. Besides that Aelemans and Van de Wijngaert were bought to enforce the TT and climbing team. Some old men like Qutaiba, Ebsen, Mamita, Foss and Wagemakers had to go, too old to perform.

  The squads:
Avery Nijholt was the best sprinter this season, ending on 840 points. Caff disappointed for another season with just 450 points. Remarkable that all other sprinters didn’t score any points, leaving the sprint team on 1.290 points. Another decrease, as the sprinters in season 21 ended with 2.100 points, so there’s need to think that over.

The climbers had another decent season. The achievements of them has been very flat, but good, over the seasons. Lepage was of course the most-winning with 1080 points, but the old Qutaiba did also well, thanks to his topform in the Germany Tour, with 470 points. All other climbers end the season with no points, so the total is 1.550 points for the climbers. A good result, with also knowing that like I said earlier, the climbing team got drastically renewed with 3 new climbers.

And last, but surely not least, the TT-ers. Historically, always the best squad of sprint4live, but the captains Figueira and Buso are getting real old now. But we welcomed new, fresh blood with Aelemans and sold Foss and Mamita, who got too old. But the 32-year-old Romero achieved the most, 580 points. Aelemans also already performed well with 450 points,
Buso and Figueira did despite his age well (420 and 300 points), Markowski scored 368 and Veneberg ended the season on 230 points. Let’s also not forget the leaving riders, Mamita (0) and Foss (130 points). This all make it an acceptable total of 2478 points.

  Stats:

Sprinters: 1.290 points (-230). 6 results. 1 win, 2 second places ,3 third places and a seventh place. Achieved by Nijholt (1,2,3,3) and Caff (3,7)

Climbers: 1.550 (+50). 7 results. 1 win, 3 second places, a third place and an eight place. Scored by Lepage (1,2,3) and Qutaiba (2,2,8).

  Timetrialers. 2.478 (-122). 8 results. 2 wins, 2 second places, 3 third places. Scored by Romero (1,3,3), Veneberg (1), Foss (2), Aelemans (2), Figueira (3) and Buso (3).
